Are the Chicago Bulls giving up on Carmelo Anthony? According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Bulls are attempting to acquire Arron Afflalo from the Orlando Magic. At only 28 years old, Afflalo is an affordable option for a team strapped for cap room like Chicago. Afflalo averaged 18.2 points this season, shooting 46 percent from the field and 43 percent from deep.
The Magic swingman has two years left on his contract, including an Early Termination Option (ETO) next summer. Afflalo is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season and if he opts in next summer he would be making $7.75 million The Magic would prefer to trade Afflalo rather than attempt to work out an extension. In order to work out a trade for Afflalo, the Bulls would likely have to depart with either the 16th or 19th pick that they own in next Thursday’s NBA Draft. The Orlando Magic already own the No. 4 and No. 12 selections in the draft. Talk about draft pick galore if this trade goes down. Afflalo is coming off of his best season statistically in the NBA and would provide the Bulls with the shooting they desperately need to bolster their offense.
If the Bulls acquired Arron Afflalo, it appears that it would end any chance of Carmelo Anthony coming to Chicago.
