In what should come as no surprise, it is being reported Dwyane Wade has finalized a contract with the Miami Heat and is expected to sign as early as today. No terms have been released, but keep in mind, Wade opted out of the final two years of his contract that would have paid him $42 million.
Even with LeBron’s departure, it’s expected Pat Riley will “make things right” and give Wade a four-year deal, perhaps starting at $15 million per year.
The 32 year old declined last season, playing in just 54 games in the regular season as the Heat managed his minutes in order to prepare for a playoff run. Wade averaged his lowest point per game total since his rookie season, scoring 19.0 points per game but shooting an incredibly effective 54.5 percent from the field.
Towards the end of the playoffs and especially in the Finals, Wade looked broken down and unable to keep up on either end of the floor. But with Chris Bosh returning and the signing of Luol Deng, the Heat may be able to manage Wade’s minutes again, although without the safety valve that was LeBron James.
Wade posted this photo to his Instagram this afternoon, with the caption: “Home Is Where The Heart Is… My Home,My City,My House..#HeatLifer”
Everyone’s choosing home this off-season (and a lot of money).
