As expected once Udonis Haslem announced his plans this morning, fellow Miami Heat teammates Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade have all reportedly opted out of their contracts, paving the way for a salary realignment for the Eastern Conference champs. Bosh, Wade and Haslem—all clients of the same agent, Henry Thomas—chose to renegotiate with the team at quite the hit to their pockets.
By exercising the early termination options in his contracts, Bosh leaves two years and $43 million left on the table. Wade also had two years, $42.5 million due. Haslem declined a $4.6 million player option for the 2014-15 season.
Of course their moves were precipitated by four-time MVP LeBron James’ decision earlier this week to terminate the final two years of his deal, reportedly to seek a max contract either in Miami or elsewhere.
