Mario Chalmers’ monthly child support payments has just increased from $2,600 to $10,000. Let us explain. According to a judge, here are some of Chalmers’ spending habits: $22,000 a month on housing, $10,000 on his personal assistant, $5,000 on vacation and $1,600 on clothing and other miscellaneous expenses.
Now, I have no idea what being a personal assistant to Mario Chalmers entails, but that’s a pretty nice gig to be earning $120,000 a year. On the other hand, the court filing states that the mother of Chalmers’ child Brittany Burrough was recently laid off and now lives with her sister, earning $1,000 a month. The judge took a look at Chalmers and his spending habits and decided that if he can afford to be lavishing this much cash on personal assistants, houses and other things, he most certainly should be contributing more to his child. Hence, the increase in child support payments.
The worst part for Chalmers is that this ruling is being backdated to the time of the original filing, which means he has to hand over a check of $155,000 immediately. Unrelated, the child’s name is Queen Elizabeth, that’s probably a story for another day.
It’s unclear if the personal assistant has been let go, or if LeBron yelled at Chalmers when he heard the news.
