No. 1 versus No. 2. Now, this is how you set off NBA Summer League action!
The Samsung NBA Summer League starts tonight with the No. 1 draft pick Andrew Wiggins and the Cleveland Cavaliers up against the second overall pick Jabari Parker and the Milwaukee Bucks in Las Vegas (8 p.m. ET on NBA TV).
What’s best about this game is that the two stars play the same small forward position and will get to truly go head-to-head tonight.
Before the 2014 NBA Draft last month, speculation arose whether Wiggins or Parker would be tabbed by the Cavs with the top overall selection. Cleveland chose Wiggins and the 6’8”, 200-pound small forward will get to show and prove why that was the case tonight. As for Parker, many league insiders thought that the 6’8”, 225-pound forward was more NBA-ready than Wiggins and he’ll get to show Cleveland what its missing.
Summer League action will also showcase the return of Philadelphia 76ers center Nerlens Noel, the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, who missed the 2013-14 season with an ACL injury. The 6’11” center will help lead the Sixers against the Utah Jazz, featuring the No. 5 pick guard Dante Exum, on Saturday night.
In total, the NBA Summer League will hold 67 games with 24 teams in 11 days, before crowning a champion.
