The Sacramento Kings are looking to make some splashy offseason moves, reportedly having resumed trade talks with the Detroit Pistons in a move to bring in Josh Smith. In addition, knowing that Smith is close friends with Rajon Rondo, the team is also said to have their eyes on the Boston Celtics point guard.

In trying to fit Smith into their frontcourt of DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay last month, the Kings were ready to send Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams or Jason Terry to the Pistons for Smith, but those discussions never panned out.

Now, in resuming those talks, how can the Kings make the trade happen? And is it worth picking up the three years and $40.5 million left on Smith’s contract? Sacramento apparently thinks so and has already been trying to engage the Celtics in trade talks for Rondo. Smith averaged 16.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for the Pistons last season.
