According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Utah Jazz have matched the four-year, $63 million offer sheet that the Charlotte Hornets presented to Hayward earlier this week.
This means that Hayward will still be signing the four-year, $63 million deal, but it will be with the Utah Jazz, not the Charlotte Hornets. The 6’8″ forward from Butler averaged 16.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists last season. The Jazz remained honest about matching any offer sheet for Hayward, even one that pays Hayward over $15 million per season.
The Jazz have secured a crucial piece to tie their core, along with Derrick Favors, Trey Burke and Dante Exum. The future is looking brighter in Utah with Hayward staying for at least four more years.
